When choosing the right profile photo, think about the following:  Avoid using photos with other people in them whether they’re blacked out or not.  Do not use a mirror to take the photos, spots will appear in the picture and the reflection of a flash not only looks bad but obscures your face.  Always think about what’s in the background of the photo when planning out a shot.  Piles of dirty laundry or a cluttered room in the background provide a messy first impression to your profile viewers.

When taking photos by yourself, you’ll find the way to achieve the best shots is to invest in a decent digital camera with a timer along with a small tripod.  Instead of taking the picture “through” a mirror, use a mirror behindthe camera and tripod. 

This will allow you to achieve the best pose and smile since you’ll be able to see yourself in the mirror.  Aim the camera at the area where you’ll be posing, set the timer, run to get into position, watch yourself in the mirror for the best shot.

I couldn’t leave out Zoosk with our site’s tagline being Gay Personals from A to Z.  To my surprise there are quite a few gays on the site; a site I assumed to be totally straight judging by their television commercials.  But when I created my account I was immediately given the option of “Men seeking Men”, that would be me!

Zoosk claims to be the largest dating community online, boasting over 50 million registrants with an unknown percentage of those being gay.  Of those 50 million, the site lovingly tells me that I’m unpopular with a ranking of 6,423,753.  Well at least I’m not ranked as member 49,999,999. 

The site is something of a mashup between a dating site and the likes of Facebook.  There’s a “wall” like area that gives you updates of when “lookinformine” updating his “perfect match”, an area where you fill out the details of your ideal partner. 

Keep in mind this site is a little more G rated than some of you may be used to.  Don’t try uploading your favorite cock shot or worse.  Use Facebook guidelines when uploading.  Something I didn’t do and got my photo rejected because I was shirtless. 

Now to go promote myself, on the site, we’ll see if I can get a little more popular than 6 millionth and some change.
